Blur is a British rock band formed in London in 1988, consisting of Damon Albarn on vocals and keyboards, Graham Coxon on guitar and vocals, Alex James on bass, and Dave Rowntree on drums. They emerged as key figures in the Britpop movement of the 1990s, alongside bands like Oasis and Pulp. Initially formed as "Seymour," they changed their name to Blur in 1989 and signed with Food Records in 1990.

Their debut album, "Leisure" (1991), featured hits such as "She's So High" and "There's No Other Way." With their second album, "Modern Life Is Rubbish" (1993), Blur began to develop a distinctly British sound, moving away from the American influences that marked their earlier work. The release of "Parklife" in 1994 brought them major commercial success and is often considered their defining album, including notable tracks like "Girls & Boys" and "Parklife." This success continued with "The Great Escape" (1995), which featured the hit single "Country House."

In 1997, Blur released their self-titled album, which included the internationally recognized hit "Song 2." Their subsequent album, "13" (1999), showcased a more experimental approach. "Think Tank," released in 2003, was their last album before a hiatus, during which Graham Coxon left the band.

The band reunited in 2008, performing sporadically and eventually releasing "The Magic Whip" in 2015, their first studio album in over a decade. Throughout their career, Blur has been credited with shaping the Britpop genre and bringing British alternative rock to international prominence. Their influence spans a wide range of bands and artists across various genres, with their catchy pop melodies, introspective lyrics, and experimental sounds ensuring their place as one of the most influential bands of the 1990s and beyond.
