PAUL WELLER: T-Shirt

Paul Weller, often referred to as "The Modfather," is a highly influential English singer, songwriter, and musician. Born on May 25, 1958, in Woking, Surrey, England, Weller is best known for his role as the frontman of the bands The Jam and The Style Council, and later for his successful solo career.

Weller formed The Jam in 1972 with school friends Steve Brookes and Dave Waller. The lineup solidified with Bruce Foxton and Rick Buckler. The Jam started with punk rock influences but evolved to include mod revival, new wave, and power pop elements. Their notable albums include *In the City* (1977), *All Mod Cons* (1978), *Setting Sons* (1979), *Sound Affects* (1980), and *The Gift* (1982). Some of their biggest hits were "Going Underground," "Town Called Malice," "That's Entertainment," and "Eton Rifles." Despite their popularity, The Jam disbanded in 1982 when Weller decided to explore new musical directions.

After The Jam, Weller formed The Style Council in 1983 with keyboardist Mick Talbot. The band embraced a wide range of styles including soul, jazz, funk, and house music. Their notable albums include *Café Bleu* (1984), *Our Favourite Shop* (1985), *The Cost of Loving* (1987), and *Confessions of a Pop Group* (1988). Hits from The Style Council include "Shout to the Top!," "My Ever Changing Moods," and "Walls Come Tumbling Down!" The band disbanded in 1989 due to Weller's desire to pursue a solo career.

Weller's debut solo album, *Paul Weller*, was released in 1992. His solo work has seen him explore rock, folk, and soul, reflecting his growing maturity as a songwriter. Notable albums from his solo career include *Wild Wood* (1993), *Stanley Road* (1995), *Heavy Soul* (1997), *22 Dreams* (2008), *Sonik Kicks* (2012), and *On Sunset* (2020). Some of his solo hits are "Wild Wood," "Sunflower," "The Changing man," and "You Do Something to Me." His solo work has cemented Weller's reputation as a versatile and enduring artist, influencing numerous musicians across different genres.

Known as "The Modfather," Weller has had a significant influence on British music and culture, especially within the mod revival and Britpop scenes. He has received several awards, including multiple BRIT Awards and an Ivor Novello Award for Outstanding Contribution to British Music. Weller continues to release new music and perform live, maintaining a dedicated fanbase and critical acclaim. His career is marked by constant evolution and a willingness to take risks, making him a pivotal figure in British music history.
